L&M Arts is proud to present "Willem de Kooning 1981-1986." Our exhibition includes twenty paintings from this period, on loan from important private collections and major museums worldwide, including the Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, D.C. and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
We are proud to be showing works from this important period. In speaking of his work, de Kooning said, "You have to change to stay the same." During these years de Kooning made a conscious and specific choice to change direction which allowed him to continue to produce paintings of incredible beauty and importance that added to his lifelong career.
This show highlights L&M's ongoing appreciation of Willem de Kooning. This is the seventh de Kooning exhibition L&M has mounted in the fourteen years of its existence, including the gallery's inaugural show. The exhibition will be accompanied by a full-color catalogue featuring an essay by Joachim Pissaro, a biographical essay by Annalyn Swan, and three personal memoirs, by Tom Ferrara, Ed McCormack, and Jill Weinberg.
"Willem de Kooning 1981 - 1986" will run from September 11 through November 17, 2007. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday 10 - 5:30.
