Chamberlain Goes Outdoors - Exhibitions - Mnuchin Gallery

All artworks by John Chamberlain © 2025 Fairweather & Fairweather LTD / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York

Mnuchin Gallery is pleased to present Chamberlain Goes Outdoors at Rockefeller Center, an installation of three dynamic sculptures from John Chamberlain’s FOILS series, on view on Center Plaza in New York’s iconic Rockefeller Center from April 16 through May 29, 2025. The FOILS represent the most serious body of work in Chamberlain’s distinguished career intended for outdoor display, this group of large-scale sculptures offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the artist’s most ambitious endeavors. Each piece in the series of 29 works is produced in an edition of three, finished in one of four colors—silver, green, copper, or pink. The FOILS serve as prime examples of the balanced, cohesive amalgamation of spontaneity, scale, and use of industrial material, which defined Chamberlain’s practice.

Pieces from this seminal series have previously been shown at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh, The LongHouse Reserve, East Hampton, NY, and on the grounds of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Most recently, Chamberlain’s BALMYWISECRACK was installed on Avenue Winston Churchill as part of Art Basel Paris’s prestigious Public Program.
